His Royal Majesty (HRM) Forum has honoured Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun with a special recognition award, for mass elevation of Obas in the State in 2018.
The award was conferred on him at the HRM first National Convention and Conference, held at Ile-Ife in Osun State.
Receiving the award on behalf of the State Governor, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs said the recognition would not only encourage the governor to continue his drive towards supporting and strengthening traditional institutions but an opportunity to do more by ensuring that traditional rulers were offered their rightful place in governance.
According to him, traditional institutions have been strong pillars in sustenance of democracy, adding that their contributions cannot be over empasised, as they served as mediators between the government and the governed.
Governor Amosun appreciated the organisers of the event for the recognition, noting that the creation of the forum was in a right perspective in this digital age.
In a related development, traditional rulers from Ogun State were treated to a special dinner, courtesy of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, in appreciation to their attendance at the event and continued support to the government.
The Commissioner for Culture and Tourism and Co-founder of the HRM Heritage, Bashorun Muyiwa Oladipo thanked the monarchs for being part of the first edition of the HRM Convention, noting that their presence was a pointer of their support to the forum.
In his goodwill message, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Jide Ojuko, called on the monarchs not to rest on their oars and continue to support the Senator Ibikunle Amosun-led administration by giving more support for its successor.
Responding on behalf of the monarchs, Onirokun of Irokun, Oba Olayinka Balogun commended Governor Ibukun Amosun for taking Obas’ welfare as one of his priorities and touching the lives of the citizenry through various infrastructural developments that had transformed the State, saying this legacy will stand the test of time.
