Development could only be recorded, where effective measures, otherwise known as efficient management are put in place to control leakages and wastage of funds.
The Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun stated this at the 2019 Annual Retreat and Conference of Association of Chief Audit Executives of Banks in Nigeria (ACAEBIN), held in Abeokuta.
The Governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Adewale Oshinowo explained that, in order to make life abundant for the people of the State, the current administration had ensured optimal utilization of the available resources and has blocked all leakages and wastage of resources.
“This singular objective has continued to drive all the infrastructural projects that we have embarked upon across the length and breadth of our dear state”, Amosun said.
He emphasised that, as the operating environment changes, the knowledge and skills required to effectively perform audit assignments have become more sophisticated, hence, the need for auditors to be versatile with new technology that could enhance their job.
The Nigeria former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, who was also present at the event, highlighted some major Nigeria economy challenges to include; governance, high population , prosperity, protection and partnership, saying intra-human partnership was key to development.
Chief Obasanjo called on the banking sector to invest more in the entire value chain of food production, as Agriculture remains the only means of creating massive employment.
The Association Chairman, Mr. Yinka Tiamiu appreciated the Governor for providing enabling environment for investors to thrive, saying the theme for this year’s conference, “ Banking in the Digital Age: Challenges and Opportunities, was carefully selected to help members of the Association know more about the new trends in technology, as it affects their profession.
