The Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has frowned at the recent killings in the Ijebu Igbo area of the State, following a political rally of the Senator representing the district.
Governor Amosun who made his feelings known at Ijebu Igbo, while addressing market women and community leaders, when he visited the scene of the violence, promised that perpetuators of the dastardly acts would not go unpunished.
“Killing each other is a thing of the past in this State and I’m going to ensure that we get to the root of this matter. This is not acceptable, they will be made to face the full wrath of the law and nobody will be allowed to mess the State up,” the Governor said.
He appealed to politicians to embrace peace and desist from acts capable of causing violence, reiterating his administration’s commitment at maintaining law and order in the state.
On his part, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Illiyasu, noted that the force have made about 35 arrests in relation to the killings, disclosing that several ammunitions have been recovered.
He added that those involved in the violence would be charged under the appropriate section of the law, assuring that the State would not be a safe haven to criminals.
