Accounting professionals in Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), have been enjoined to exhibit high level of professionalism in the discharge of their duties to further deepen the socio- economic development currently going on in Ogun State
The Permanent Secretary, Ogun State Bureau of Local Government Pensions, Mrs Irene Kokumo, stated this during a courtesy visit to the bureau by members of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), at the Parastatals Building, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Kokumo said for the profession to continue to be relevant and contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of the nation, practitioners in both public and the private sectors, needed to be exposed to modern trend in accounting.
The Permanent Secretary stressed the need for continuous training of Accountants at the various Ministries, Departments and Agencies, saying this would lead to efficient service delivery which in turn would have positive impact on the State economy.
While urging the association to see the Bureau as partner in progress, she assured that the Bureau would always show interest in the activities of the association both at the State and national level.
Responding, the Chairman of the Ogun State branch of ANAN, Mr. Olayinka Odukoya, said the aim of the association was to make it a premium brand in professional accounting practice in Nigeria as well as to impact positively on accounting education and practice in a comprehensive manner.
Odukoya commended the management of the Bureau for its efforts at repositioning the pension administration in the State, soliciting for the State Government continuous support to its various programmes at the state branch and national level.
