Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has described the health profession, as an integral aspect of human existence that must not be neglected for any undue motive, considering its life-sustaining status, assuring that his administration would continue to create a conducive ambience, for both the professionals and the people of the State in general.
Governor Abiodun, while declaring open the National Executive Council meeting of the National Association of Government General Medical and Dental Practitioners, (NAGGMDP) in Abeokuta, expressed displeasure to the strike actions by health workers in the country, reminding them of their responsibility to save lives.
“One of the challenges affecting the health sector is the issue of strike actions by doctors to press home their demands, please be reminded that you are in a life-sustaining profession by providence.
“So, I appeal to you all to continue living up to your calling at all times, while government on its part would continue to do the needful to make you all happy”, he added.
The Governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Olatokunbo Talabi, revealed that efforts were in top gear to reposition the ailing health sector to its old glory, saying their welfare remains top priority in the scheme of things.
In his charge, former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, emphasised the need for the management of the supply and delivery chain to be better organized for efficient service delivery, adding that, the Oath of allegiance should be strictly adhered to, for the benefit of the people.
