A total number of ten projects have been commissioned across communities in Abeokuta South and North Local Government Areas of Ogun State, in order to bring comfort, increase economy, prevent water borne and communicable diseases among the people.
The projects, which were undertaken by the Local Councils, according to Governor Dapo Abiodun were in fulfillment of the promise made during campaigns that new Local Government Council would emerge, one that citizens can call their own as well as deliver dividends of democracy to them.
Represented by the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Afolabi Afuape, Governor Abiodun said there is no Local Council that has less than three projects to commission across the State, saying this shows that Local Government Areas were back on their feet to perform statutory roles expected of them.
“As the Local Government Areas are undertaking projects, State Government is also complementing their effort in carrying out construction and rehabilitation of roads, schools and hospitals in different Council areas of the State. For instance, in Abeokuta South, 50 Open Stalls at Asero, Borehole and Toilets at Isale-Ijeun, were commissioned,”. he said.
In his remark, the Transition Committee Chairman, Hon. Ayomide Somide appreciated the Governor who according to him have not rest on its oars at ensuring that dividends of democracy get to all and sundry.
Contributing, his Abeokuta North counterpart, Hon. Babatunde Tella thanked the Governor for the support given to implement projects across the Local Government. He enjoined the beneficiaries of the facilities to ensure its proper maintenance and functionality at all times.
Projects commissioned in Abeokuta North include, Borehole at Ibara Orile, Abule Olomore, and Ago-Afoju, alternative power supply through Solar Panel and Inverter system at Iberekodo Health Centre and Administrative Building in Abeokuta North Local Government Secretariat, Akomoje, as well as VIP Toilet at Elega Market.
