Speaking with newsmen shortly after the ceremony, Governor Amosun said the supreme price paid by the fallen heroes could best be appreciated if Nigerians sustain the unity existing in the country and remember to assist the families they left behind.
The annual celebration had in attendance; Service Chiefs from Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Legion, traditional rulers, top government functionaries, and the general public.
Highlight of event was the laying of wreaths by the State Governor, Service Chiefs and the four Paramount Rulers in the State, followed by the release of 57 white pigeons, representing the 20 Local Governments and the 37 Local Council Development Areas in the State, which also symbolises national peace.
